Dear Claymont Elementary School Students and Families,
Welcome back to our new 2024-2025 school year! Our 1st and 2nd grade students are going to make a FANTASTIC school year !
It is with honor and delight that I introduce myself as the new principal of Claymont Elementary School. I'm joining the Claymont community bringing my 15 years of teaching experience plus 10 more years of elementary admin experience. I can't wait to meet everyone!
LIFETIME OF SUCCESS
Our district goal is to 'Provide each student an opportunity for a lifetime of success." Starting the very first day, Thursday, August 22, 2024, we all start working together to meet that goal. Every student matters! Every day matters! Even though Claymont Elementary students are young, we know our students are learning not only academics and working together, but also the importance of education, being at school every day! We're counting on everyone - parents, families, staff and students, working as a team, to help teach our students school is important. It is the key to future success.
OPEN HOUSE
Open House at Claymont Elementary is Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 5:30-6:30PM. We'd love for families to bring their students to tour the building, find their classroom(s), meet their teachers, bring their supplies, confirm registration packets are complete, and ask questions!

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL
BUSES and VISITOR PARKING (outside of drop-off & pick-up)
Walnut Street has 2 entrances - which DO NOT connect to the Trenton Avenue parking lot and BOTH are ONE WAY. The 1st Walnut Street entrance is for buses only. The 2nd entrance has several parking spots in a single row, across from the bus canopy. This single lane has 1 designated handicap spot and 2 visitor spots. The unmarked spots are for parents/visitors arriving for meetings. This single lane of parking is not for drop-off/pick-up traffic.
ALL CAR RIDERS
The Trenton Ave parking lot closest to Save-A-Lot is the drop off and pick up area for students during arrival and dismissal. Please do not block our parking lot entrance so that staff may still access this parking lot. Cars may not park in the drop-off /pick-up zone. The traffic flow is one-way during active pick-up & drop off.
Traffic Pattern - Please come down W. 1st St. and turn onto S. Romig St. From S. Romig St. you will turn left onto Trenton Avenue and then turn right into the parking lot as space becomes available. By order of the city, parents are not permitted to line up on Trenton Ave. During arrival/dismissal there are no left turns into our parking lot.
CAR RIDER AM DROP-OFF
Drop-Off starts at 7:50AM. Cars may enter the Drop-Off area after 7:45AM.
CAR RIDER PM PICK-UP
Pick-Up starts at 3:00PM. On the 1st day of school, Car Riders will be given Car Signs with his/her name(s). This should be hung on the rear-view mirror so that staff will know which student(s) go to which car. If families need an additional Car Sign, please ask a staff member. Your student(s) will be brought to your car. Please have ID ready. Please do not park or get out of your car. All Car Pick-Ups must be in a car.
DAILY PARENT PICK-UP (non-car)
Park in the newly paved Trenton Ave Parking Lot near the corner of Walnut Street. This parking lot is for staff, visitors, and Parent Pick-ups. There is also a new sidewalk to allow for persons on Trenton Avenue to walk to the bus canopy entrance without having to walk through the parking lot. Parents are not permitted to park at the businesses across the street. Only students who live within the walking range (1 mile) will be allowed to exit from Trenton Road Front Double Doors. All other students must be picked up from the car line.
Students are not permitted to walk by themselves into or thru any of our parking lots.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
We are looking forward to meeting and greeting all our Mustangs on our first morning back to school this 24-25 school year - Monday August 26th! Let's make sure to offer kindness and grace all year round - but maybe more so as we return - when families and staff have had time off and as we all re-learn our new normals!
