National Honor Society
|Adviser: Joe Lunsford|
|National Honors Society students need to have and maintain an overall 3.5 gpa. In order to be inducted, students also have to complete an application form that focuses on answering questions pertaining to the 4 pillars of NHS (Scholarship, Character, Service, and Leadership). Then, these students have to complete an interview with the principal and Mr. Joe Lunsford before being inducted.
As a group, the NHS do various school and community-related service projects throughout the year, and these projects will vary from year to year depending on the group's interests and number of members. A few of the events NHS was active in last year were the following: hosted the CHS Talent Show, attended an Honors' Symposium held at KSU-Tusc.. assisted with CHS' Christmas Program and Grandparents' Day, collected donations for the Rainbow Connection, and held our annual Easter Canned Food Drive, which supported 8 families and 30 students within the district. With the food drive, the students held candy bar fundraisers to raise money to provide Easter candy for these 30 students. In past years, NHS has also been active in holding other food and clothing drives, has donated to local food pantries and churches, and has volunteered to assist with various school and community events (working concession stands at CHS during tournaments, delivering meals at Thanksgiving time through local churches, etc.)
